chem definitons and measurement lab

Yesterday in chem class we did a lab on measurment and it was a lot of fun guessing the weight of each object. (your welcome kat) We used a verner scale to measure each of our selected items. Some examples of the objects were rubber stoppers, pennies, and dimes. Over all it was a good lab.
Throughout the weeks we have been collecting many definitions. Some of them include:
atoms: the fundamental unit of which elements are composed.
molecule: a collection of atoms bonded together that behave as a unit.
Solid: one of the three states of matter; has fixed shape an volume.
There are many more!

Yesterday, 8/19, our chem class turned a penny gold. First we put our pennies in a zinc solution and then let it set in it. After the penny was completly silver from the zinc, we used a bunsent burner. We took a tongs and held the penny under the bunsent burner. The zinc truned the penny gold under the high heat. It was really cool. After putting it under high heat we placed it cool water to cool it down and the cleaned it up. We have a shiny gold penny!
