this past week we have been learning about the mole!!!
IT is 6.02 X 10^23. We did a lot of worksheet regarding this subject. It was a lot of fun when trying to measure out the 23g of cellulose of punched out paper!! I never new that the molar mass on the periodic table......very interesting.
Watch the mole song it's quite the song to remember 6.02 X 10^23

molecule test and experiment
today's lab looked quite interesting. Though i did not get to particiapate in the lab, due to sports, i still would like to know what was happening with each solution. It looked as if the charged rod would be charged enough to pull the solution toward it. Overall a cool looking lab, going to need to get the results and what happened, and i'm a little nervious for the test this friday!
trying to study as much as I can. STill having trouble understanding the polar molecules and non-polar molecules.

shcp game and today
the shcp game was really long and cold. The game was going good until they scored and we couldn't get back to set up and score on their goal. We played better today than in the game yeaterday, but we still have a long way to go!!
today was an ok day still having some bad luck with things though, kinda sucks! :(

castellejah game and overall day
the game against castellejah was pretty hard. They were a good team and we had them tied in the first half, but then lost it in the second half near the end. After the game was really tiring, went home and fell asleep!!!!
overall not a great day, had better, but oh-well:)

light lab
On tuesday we did a light absorbancy lab test. We took three solutions from a big bottle and stuckk them in a test tube and put the test tube in the light absorbancy machine. We figured out how much absorbancy each solution has and then later last friday we graphed it on google docs.
this lab was very intresting and cool at the same time! I enjoyed this lab.

upcoming unit test on bonds and light!!
i am very nervious for the upcoming unit test. I kinda of understand the material put it can be very hard to comprehend. The ionic and covalent compounds are really hard and i don't really get it, sometimes. Hopefull the new unit review game will help. i am hoping to do well on the test and boost my grade to help my gpa!!

friday computer lab! :)
This friday we watched the end of the Einsten video! It was intresting on all the discoveries that lead to the major concepts of chemistry today. After finishing the movie we exchanged glossaries with a partner we chose and put in new definitions. It was hard because my computer kept freezing!!! Ohwell we finished and then the bell rang.
homecoming!
homecoming was really fun! The Dance was ok and the dJ was just ok too. The generator or something broke so they had to stop it. Then a girl popped her knee out, so they had to stop the dance again and move it outside. After that we could go back in, then the dance ended. Was a fun nite afterall! Went to in and out after!!

Fire Lab!!!
This past Tuesday, we did a lab with FIRE! It was a lot of fun. We took certain chemicals and put them under fire. When the flame burned the chemicals it emitted a different color. For example, Aluminium burned maybe a Pink and so on...
We also did some readings on the different layers or shells of an atom, but it was very confusing!
i don't get it! I'll just to read it better!!!!!
Overall a fun week!!!!!

chemisrty test :o
On Monday there is going to be a unit chem test. I am somewhat worried because i'm not super confident in the material. I' hoping that i will do well on the test! After today i have soccer conditioning and i'm kinda nervious!

pennies and more!
This week we worked on a lab with pennies. Tha lab was called the half-life stimmulation. We took 100 pennies and shook them in cup; then fiugred out the reatios and took away the face-up pennies and reapeated the step with the tail sided pennies. First our group did the experiment wrong but we figured out the pattern after. It wa very successful! After the lab we watched a movie on the famous Albert Einstein. It talked about other famous chemists during the French Revolutions. Overall a very fun filled learning week.

isatest!
This week was quite the challnege. We had two tests in one week! The isatest was ok and i think i did not so well on it. I'm just hoping that i do better on the unit test. Though after the test we were able to experiment with dry ice. We created bubbles and made dense balloons, figuring out that carbon is more dense than regular air. This was a fun experiment!

periodoc tables!
This week we did a lot of reading and learning about new materials. First we learned about the periodic table on monday and tuesday. Then we did a periodic table lab. That was ok, We had to place a buch of elements in order. Later we studied about atomic structures and isotopes. We learned how to figure out the number of neutrons, electrons, and protons were in an atom of an element. Finally we read a section on inos and their compunds. Mr.Olson showed us how when an atom loses a electron it gets smaller and the formulas for elements losing and gaining electrons. Overall a very long but educational week!

isaquiz and mendeleyv
This week in chem class was really interesting. On Tuesday we did a lab that included the periodic table and Mendeleyev. Then for homework we read chapter 3.3 to learn about atomic structures. Today, 9/10, we did another lab on the periodic table again and the patterns they have within the table. We also got our test score for the IsaQuiz!(Did fairly well) Overall a very good week!!

chem definitons and measurement lab
Yesterday in chem class we did a lab on measurment and it was a lot of fun guessing the weight of each object. (your welcome kat) We used a verner scale to measure each of our selected items. Some examples of the objects were rubber stoppers, pennies, and dimes. Over all it was a good lab.
Throughout the weeks we have been collecting many definitions. Some of them include:
atoms: the fundamental unit of which elements are composed.
molecule: a collection of atoms bonded together that behave as a unit.
Solid: one of the three states of matter; has fixed shape an volume.
There are many more!

Yesterday, 8/19, our chem class turned a penny gold. First we put our pennies in a zinc solution and then let it set in it. After the penny was completly silver from the zinc, we used a bunsent burner. We took a tongs and held the penny under the bunsent burner. The zinc truned the penny gold under the high heat. It was really cool. After putting it under high heat we placed it cool water to cool it down and the cleaned it up. We have a shiny gold penny!
My goals
My goals in school:
-get good grades throughout my highschool career
-make the Jv baskteball or soccer team
-do my best in all of my classes and tests
My later goals are to:
-got to college (not sure which college)
-Major in biology
